SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: COVID-19

To All Board members and Members of the Badminton Community in Ontario

RE: COVID-19

Just like you, Badminton Ontario has been closely monitoring the developments regarding COVID-19 and the steps that have been taken to reduce the transmission of this virus within our communities. Most recently, Ontario Public Health has directed that large-scale events be cancelled, and that people maintain a safe social distance amongst each other. Badminton Ontario cares about the safety & well-being of its players, volunteers, staff, and those in the badminton community. As a result, the Badminton Ontario Board and District Presidents have made the decision to cancel all Events and Tournaments for the remainder of the season (end of August 2020), effective immediately. We are disappointed, however, the health & safety of our membership as well as the broader community is our top priority.

We are aware that some players may have already registered for upcoming Badminton Ontario Events and Tournaments. A refund process is still being developed and will be communicated once it is finalized. We ask for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we work through these circumstances.

At this time, Badminton Ontario will continue the planning for the new season beginning in September 2020. Badminton Ontario Board and Staff will monitor and follow Badminton Canada guidelines with respect to the Tournaments. If the environment changes to a degree that will affect the commencement of the 2020-21 Competition Season, we will share with the Badminton Community.

We thank you for an exciting 2019-2020 Competition Season and appreciate your support. Please follow the directives issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario, limiting activities within reason, as well as a list of best practices for your personal health and safety.
