Coaching Opportunity – Seneca College

The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the technical, tactical and physical curriculum which prepares student-athletes for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). This is a part-time position that requires weekday day time and evening hours, as well as weekends.

SENECA COLLEGE COACHING OPPORTUNITY

The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the technical, tactical and physical curriculum which prepares student-athletes for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). This is a part-time position that requires weekday day time and evening hours, as well as weekends.

Duties: _______

¨ Develop the overall athletic plans (long range scheduling to daily practice plans) to maximize player and team development

¨ Prepare technical and tactical strategies for student-athletes to be successful at the OCAA and CCAA level

¨ Identification and recruitment of quality student-athletes

¨ Must support and mentor the values of excellence in academics and athletics, character development and leadership

¨ Maintain effective communications and administrative systems amongst coaches, players, athletic and facility staff

¨ Must work collaboratively in a large athletics and recreation department consisting of 17 varsity programs and extensive recreation programming

¨ Complete adherence to and support of OCAA, CCAA and Seneca policies and procedures

¨ Supervision of team on all road trips

General Aspects of Seneca’s Program: _____________________

¨ The competitive season begins the middle of October and runs through to February; with Provincial Championships in late February and National Championships in March. The team practices two to three times a week (2 hours/practice)

¨ Seneca competes within OCAA tournaments and select invitational events – total of 6-7 events per season.

¨ Support personnel includes a minimum of 2-3 assistant coach(es) and a team therapist who is present at practices and games

¨ The Head Coach must be of good character and have demonstrated a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance

¨ Have strong relationships with club coaches for the purpose of recruitment

¨ Have a minimum of five years of coaching experience with 16 to 25 year olds

¨ Hold, or be working towards, Badminton Canada Competition Development NCCP certification.

¨ Have exceptional interpersonal communication skills, sound administrative skills, strong motivational abilities and a commitment to fair play

¨ Must be eligible to work in Canada
