The NCS Max Junior C#1 tournament brought an action-packed weekend of high-caliber badminton to Vision, convening Ontario’s rising youth stars across the U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 divisions. With Saturday showcasing individual resilience in a packed singles program and Sunday shifting the spotlight to high-tempo doubles and mixed doubles teamwork, the two-day event delivered an extraordinary blend of clinical front-running and tenacious comebacks.

Saturday’s singles matches set a relentless standard from the morning rounds onward. In U17 Boys Singles, Dylan Chen surged to the championship by defeating Aijay Kana (21-8, 21-9) in the final after navigating past Nathan Lo (21-15, 21-13) and Aaron Jia-Li [5/8] (21-7, 21-10). The U17 Girls Singles bracket produced a breathtaking finish when Eugenie Yucheng Lu edged Saisha Sangroya (21-17, 14-21, 24-22) in an electric, down-to-the-wire final. In U19 competition, Raymond Lu [5/8] mounted an impressive charge through the draw, ousting Andy Luo [3/4] in three games (15-21, 21-13, 21-16) and battling past Kaushik Meduri (18-21, 21-11, 22-20) before capturing the Boys Singles crown over Oscar Deng [5/8] (21-15, 21-11). Athena Duan claimed the U19 Girls Singles title with a steady (21-14, 21-11) victory over Thaneesha Deepak. In U15, top seed Tyler Wong demonstrated masterful control to capture Boys Singles against Sreethan Vishwa Ayalasomayajulu [5/8] (21-8, 21-8), while Irene Zhou took the Girls Singles crown over second-seeded Mengyu Ding (23-21, 21-13). U13 play saw Austin Zhao [3/4] pull off a gritty semifinal upset over top seed Zymond Mao (21-12, 21-14) before seizing the title against Ethan He (21-16, 21-14), as Stacey Lin [2] secured Girls Singles over Chloe Wen Deng (21-10, 21-15). In the youngest category, second-seeded Ethan Joseph Vijay turned away top seed Aiden Lin (22-20, 21-10) to secure the U11 Boys Singles title, while Jessie Congyao Wang swept the U11 Girls Singles round-robin with an unblemished record.

Sunday’s doubles slate amplified the intensity with thrilling tactical rallies and multi-discipline dominance. Vijay completed a stellar weekend sweep by pairing with Jason Zhitong Liang [2] in U11 Boys Doubles, fighting back to conquer Jason Zhixing Huang and Aiden Lin [1] in a tense final (10-21, 21-10, 21-8). In U13 doubles, top seeds Antony Qile Liu and Jason Qiu earned a hard-fought Boys Doubles title against Muhammad Jami and Zymond Mao (21-18, 9-21, 21-19), while top-seeded sisters Mu Rui Xue and Mu Xuan Xue took the Girls Doubles round-robin crown, capped by a (21-12, 21-14) victory over Aavya Saxena and Aadya Sriram Iyer. Jason Qiu and Lumi Chen dominated the U13 Mixed Doubles round robin, concluding with a (21-17, 21-18) win over Adithyan Harappriyan and Chloe Wen Deng.

In the U15 divisions, Joshua Hartono and Aashritha Prem demonstrated exceptional chemistry to capture the Mixed Doubles crown over Lucas Ma and Mozheng Liu (21-11, 21-10). Tyler Wong collected his second title of the weekend by teaming with Jayden Wang [2] to outlast Brenden Lin and Eden Yu Hin Seto in a dramatic three-game Boys Doubles final (21-16, 19-21, 21-15). The U15 Girls Doubles final was equally fierce, as Audrey Lok and Olivia Ruoyi Wu edged top seeds Elise Hou and Ruotong Huang (21-19, 7-21, 22-20). In U17 action, Saisha Sangroya and Lauryn Tran-Lien swept past Vivian Su and Camille Wang (21-16, 21-13) for Girls Doubles gold. Dylan Chen and Yihang Peter Sun [3/4] clinched U17 Boys Doubles over Austin Hsu and Aiden Ko (21-8, 21-16), giving Chen his second championship of the tournament. Top seeds Aaron Jia-Li and Lydia Liu capped U17 Mixed Doubles by outlasting second seeds Martin Li and Allison Zhu in a marathon thriller (25-27, 21-12, 21-15).

The U19 brackets concluded the weekend with top seeds Michelle Meishan Wang and Madeline Hiu Ching Wong claimed U19 Girls Doubles with a three-game victory over Athena Duan and Yoomee Wang (21-12, 20-22, 21-14). Oscar Deng and Stanley Pang [2] captured Boys Doubles over Alex Mu and Ethan Zhu [3/4] (21-18, 22-20), before Pang joined Michelle Meishan Wang to rally past Marcus Ng and Kaydence Tam (21-19, 17-21, 21-8) for the U19 Mixed Doubles championship. The dual titles earned by Pang, Wang, Vijay, Chen, and Wong highlighted a complete, unforgettable weekend of provincial badminton.
