Ontario Tech Wins OUA Champ Award for Best Competitive Championship

This marks three straight years the Ridgebacks have captured a CHAMP (Celebrating and Honouring Achievements in Marketing and Promotions) award. The 2019 OUA badminton championship, hosted for the first time by Ontario Tech, was a great success in the field of marketing and communications. The championship featured new initiatives including live streaming of a featured court, post-championship wrap up video, video interviews with participating athletes, a drawboard featuring the team matches and an focus on promotion around the facility and campus with signage featuring Ontario Tech badminton players. “Here at Ontario Tech we really want our athletes and visiting athletes to have a great experience,” said athletic director Scott Barker. “Hosting badminton for the first time in our program’s short history, our team wanted to make sure we provided an experience the athletes wouldn’t forget. We hope that was the case and are thankful to the OUA for this recognition.” This award is Ontario Tech’s fourth CHAMP award. Last year, the Ridgebacks brought home awards for best high-performance championship and Hunter the Ridgeback winning the best mascot award.
