Salary: $2200 for the season (Nov. 16, 2021 – March 6, 2022). All school holidays are off.

At Havergal College, we feel our athletics program has the breadth to meet the needs of a diverse group of students and the depth to challenge students at all stages of development. Through participation in athletics, students will develop the confidence to maintain a healthy active lifestyle, whether through elite or recreational sport, beyond their time at Havergal. Participation in sport contributes to the overall wellbeing and long-term athlete development of students. Havergal College is currently hiring 2-4 badminton coaches for our U13 (grade 7), U14 (grade 8) and U20 (grades 11&12) teams. Coaches will have experience and knowledge of coaching middle school and high school aged athletes in the sport of badminton. 

Coaches must also have a Vulnerable Sector Check, which can be completed with the help of Havergal College.

Duties: Provide badminton coaching to their team. Be a positive influence on their athletes during practices and games. Coaches create practice plans and prepare students for competition against other schools in the Conference of Independent Schools Athletics Association (through observation, analysis of skills during practices and at tournaments and through positive, clear communication). Coaches must also travel with their teams, on the bus, to away games. Coaches may also need to complete minor administrative duties as required (practice attendance, bus seating plans, etc.)

Requirements: Previous experience coaching high school aged athletes would be preferred but not necessary. Coaches should possess interest and passion in the sport of badminton, have good communication skills, sound knowledge of rules, skills and strategies in badminton. Coaches can work independently or as a group (can hire up to 2 coaches per team). Coaches must be punctual and be able to commit to all practices and games with the team. Practices can be from 7:00 am – 8:00 am or 3:45 pm – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Games will be both “home” and “away” and are usually 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm. Most schools in our division are located within the GTA.
