TORONTO, ON — June 23, 2026 — Badminton Ontario (BON), the provincial governing body for badminton, and the CCS Tournaments Foundation, a premier local competitive tournament organizer, are thrilled to announce an exciting new pilot project that will officially bring CCS competitive events under the Badminton Ontario sanctioned umbrella.
Through this historic partnership, eligible events hosted by the CCS Tournaments Foundation will be officially sanctioned by Badminton Ontario, allowing competing athletes to earn official Badminton Ontario Open ranking points.
This collaboration bridges the gap between grassroots competitive tournaments and the official provincial ranking pathway, offering players an integrated, streamlined experience. For the athlete community, the premise is simple: “A strong governing body and a trusted local partner coming together to grow badminton.”
Empowering Local Organizers and Expanding Athlete Pathways
This pilot project represents a deliberate, active role by Badminton Ontario to champion and support local Open badminton and community tournament organizers. By aligning with established independent organizations, BON aims to expand competitive opportunities, elevate standardizations, and directly invest in the growth of the local tournament ecosystem.
“A strong governing body with an established ranking system, working hand-in-hand with a trusted local organizer with a proven track record, creates a model that can truly benefit players and strengthen the entire badminton community,” said Brian Tjoa, Executive Director of Badminton Ontario. “By sanctioning CCS tournaments, we are meeting players where they are, validating their competitive efforts with official Open ranking points, and fostering a more connected sports community across the province.”
A Proven Track Record Meets Provincial Validation
As a highly respected fixture in the local badminton community known for delivering well-run, high-energy events, the CCS Tournaments Foundation represents the ideal launchpad for this provincial framework.
“CCS is deeply honoured to be selected as the first pilot partner for this groundbreaking initiative,” said Christina Jiexin Wang, Executive Director of CCS Tournaments Foundation. “We have always prided ourselves on providing competitive, seamless, and player-centric tournament experiences. Partnering with Badminton Ontario allows us to elevate our tournaments further, giving our athletes a direct, official path to earn provincial ranking points while keeping the community-first environment they love.”
What This Means for Competitors
- Earn Open Ranking Points: Competitors in designated CCS events will now earn official Badminton Ontario Open ranking points, directly impacting their provincial standings.
- Elevated Tournament Standards: Tournaments will maintain the distinct, player-oriented atmosphere CCS is known for, while backed by the official regulations and structural integrity of the provincial governing body.
- A Pilot Worth Watching: As a proof-of-concept, this model sets a blueprint for how provincial sport organizations and independent local organizers can mutually thrive.
Specific tournament dates, registration details, and point-allocation structures for the upcoming pilot events will be rolled out in the coming weeks on both organizations’ official platforms.
