Badminton Ontario congratulates all involved in the success of the Badminton competition at the Pan Am Games
The Board of Badminton Ontario wish to extend their congratulations to the athletes, coaches, technical support teams and Pan Am 2015 volunteers for staging such an exciting and successful Badminton competition as part of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. “To see all the years of preparation come together with such success is satisfying to everyone in Badminton, and we certainly look forward to building on this platform to further public interest in the sport for many years to come” said Ian Moss, President of Badminton Ontario.
The six medal performance by Canada’s team was led by Ontario based athletes, with Michelle Li earning a gold (Women’s Singles) and Bronze (Women’s Doubles), Rachel Honderich a Silver (Women’s Singles) and Bronze (Women’s Doubles), Alex Bruce a Silver (Mixed Doubles) and Bronze (Women’s Doubles) and Andrew D’Souza a Silver (Men’s Singles). “We continue to be proud of the quality of athletes produced in our Ontario clubs – they are clearly well prepared for international competition and we certainly look forward to seeing them move forward toward their 2016 Olympic qualification aspirations” added Moss.
“As importantly, I would like to recognize the fine work of the volunteers and staff based in the City of Markham – it is no easy task to work through all the preparation for such a large undertaking as the Pan Am Games, and we certainly know that the expertise they have gained through this preparation will bode well for our future plans to continue to host national and international competitions in Markham” said Moss. “I look forward to a continued strong relationship with the City and to build upon the popularity of Badminton that has been shown through the sell out attendance at these Games”.
