The Badminton Canada Para-Badminton Committee is inviting applications for the following two coaching positions:
Head Coach, 2016 Pan Am Para-Badminton Championships & 1st Columbian Para International.
Assistant Coach, 2016 Pan Am Para-Badminton Championships & 1st Columbian Para International.

Event Details – 2016 Pan Am Para-Badminton Championships & 1st Columbian Para International
Event Dates:
Pan Am Championship – November 29- December 4, 2016 / 1st Columbian Para International Dec 4-9, 2016
Travel Dates:
Depart November 27/28, 2016
Return December 10, 2016
Location:
Medellin, Columbia
Funding:
Badminton Canada will cover the cost of airfare, onsite accommodations and provide a $50 per day meal allowance for the selected Head Coach and Assistance Coach.
Selection Criteria – Head Coach
The position of Head Coach is a project position and the successful candidate will be responsible for:
· preparation and monitoring of 2016 Para Pan Am Badminton Championships & 1st Columbian Para International athletes leading up to the event
· ensuring completion of international classification for the athletes
· attending manager’s meetings
· coaching the team of 6 National Team athletes during the two events.
The athletes will be selected in accordance with the National Team selection criteria.
The minimum CAC coaching certification required for this position is Level 4 coach or Level 3 coach (Competition Development) with significant international playing experience.
The coach should ideally possess:
· experience coaching para athletes
· international coaching experience
· experience with national caliber athletes
· familiarity with sport science
Interested coaches should forward their resume (including two references), with a covering letter stating their reasons/interest in the position, their relevant qualifications for the position, and a brief plan leading up to the Championships.
Selection Criteria – Assistant Coach
The position of Assistant Coach is a project position and the successful candidate will:
· assist the Head Coach in the preparation and monitoring of 2016 Para Pan Am Badminton Championships & 1st Columbian Para International athletes leading up to the event
· assist the head coach in coaching the team of 6 National Team athletes during the two events
· assist the athletes in the process of completing International Classification
· assist in other duties assigned by the head coach
The athletes will be selected in accordance with the National Team selection criteria.
The minimum CAC coaching certification required for this position is Level 3 coach (Competition Development) or Level 2 coach (Competition Introduction) with significant international playing experience.
The coach should ideally possess:
· experience coaching para athletes
· experience with national caliber athletes
· familiarity with sport science
Interested coaches should forward their resume (including two references), with a covering letter stating their reasons/interest in the position, their relevant qualifications for the position, and a brief plan leading up to the Championships.
