Badminton Ontario would like to recognize coaches who have excelled and made a difference in
the sport of badminton for the 2014/2015 badminton season.

Nominations will be accepted for the following categories (please check one box):

Grass Roots (coaches who coach grass roots, recreational & intermediate athletes with emphasis
on skills development, participation, fun & and an introduction to competitive play);

High Performance (coaches who are primarily working with athletes at a provincial and/or national
level, with an emphasis on competitive results).

Eligibility
• Must be in good standing with Badminton Ontario and their affiliated club
• Must agree to have his/her name and photograph publicized and be prepared to promote the
award

Selection Criteria

A minimum 1 page summary should be provided with each nomination, which includes details on how
the coach meets the following criteria (supporting documentation could include letters of reference,
cover letters, video testimonials, audio interviews, etc.):
• Professional attitude on and off the court
• Safe and ethical coaching practices
• The coach demonstrates a history of professional development (i.e. training, seminars,
conferences, etc.)
• Acts as a leader & ambassador of coaching, with a history of mentoring (coaches and/or
players)
• Shares expertise willingly in a variety of ways
• Player’s results (either through meeting developmental milestones or competitive results)
• Meeting and working with the objectives and outcomes identified in the LTAD (Long Term
Athlete Development – details available on the Badminton Ontario website)

Guidelines

• Nominations must provide details on the coaches involvement in badminton and how they meet
the above noted criteria
• Nominations will be accepted from:
o Current/past players, coaches or officials
o Guardian/parent of a player
o Affiliated Badminton Ontario club or club administrator
o Badminton Ontario District Boards
• Nominations will be reviewed and winners selected, by the Badminton Ontario Coaching
Committee (BOCC)
o In the event a BOCC member is nominated, the BOCC member will be withdrawn from
the selection process
