NCCP Course Information

OLD NCCP

Theory 1 (CAO) + Technical Level 1 (Badminton Ontario) + Practical 20 hours (Home Club) = Level 1 Certified

Theory 2 (CAO) + Technical Level 2 (Badminton Ontario) + Practical 30 hours (Home Club) + On court Exam (Badminton Ontario) = Level 2 Certified

NEW NCCP

Regional Coach

Module 1 – Planning a Practice (old Theory Level 1) – 4hours

Module 2 – Making Ethical Decisions (old Theory Level 1) – 4hours

Module 3 – Technical / Tactical Basics (old Technical Level 1) – 8hours

Provincial Coach

Module 4 – Design a Sports Program (old Theory Level 2) – 8hours

Module 5 – Technical / Tactical Foundations (old Technical Level 2) – 8hours

Note:

Regional Coach Status is the old Level 1

Provincial Coach Status is the old Level 2

NCCP Course Equivalency and Status (for old Level 1)

Completed Module 1 and/or Module 2 and/or Module 3 (but not all three)

Status in the new system: Regional Coach “IN TRAINING”

Completed Module 1 and Module 2 and Module 3

Status in the new system: Regional Coach “TRAINED”

TRAINED coach who has successfully completed an on court evaluation by a Learning Evaluator (LE)

Status in the new system: Regional Coach “CERTIFIED”

Any coach who was fully certified Level 1 under the old system would become Regionally Certified under the new system

Theory courses are still available from the CAO and would be transferred over to the new NCCP system:

Theory Part A for Level 1 (Nutrition, Planning a Practice, Ethics) under the old system converted to Modules 1 and 2 in the new system

Theory Part B for Level 2 (Design a Sports Program, Teaching & Learning, Basic Mental Skills) under the old system converted to Module 4 in the new system)

NCCP Course Equivalency and Status (for old Level 2)

Completed Module 4 or Module 5

Status in the new system: Provincial Coach “IN TRAINING”

Completed Module 4 and Module 5

Status in the new system: Provincial Coach “TRAINED”

TRAINED coach who has successfully completed an on court evaluation by a Learning Evaluator (LE)

Status in the new system: Provincial Coach “CERTIFIED”

Partial completions: Complete the module required in the new system. (If you have completed your Theory Part A for Level 1 but not your Technical Level 1, then take the Module 3 and skip Modules 1 and 2 for the new Regional Coach

Cheques should be written out to “Badminton Ontario”.

There are limited spaces for all courses, and registration may close when courses become full. Registration may be closed for any or all courses up to a week before a course commences as Learning Facilitators need time to prepare for their courses, including having manuals printed.
