Badminton Canada provides an update to the badminton community

Dear members of the Ontario badminton community,

We would like to provide an update on the serious incident that was reported recently regarding an alleged sexual assault by a badminton coach in the Markham area.  Please see:  https://www.yrp.ca/en/Modules/News/index.aspx?newsId=7af30593-ea3a-4512-bd37-ca16a63e1a9d.

In conjunction with Badminton Canada, we have been closely monitoring the situation and are offering our support to the York Regional Police, as we allow the legal process to take its course.

Badminton Canada (BCan) and Badminton Ontario take any situation involving maltreatment and abuse very seriously.  Badminton Canada has provisionally suspended the coach from all BCan and its members’ (Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations) activities effective immediately. Once the police conclude their investigation, we will take appropriate action in accordance with the outcome of the investigation.
