Keith Miller Memorial Award
recognizing the Official of the Year
Keith Miller was one of Canada and Ontario’s most respected officials for several decades. The International Badminton Federation, now Badminton World Federation, appointed Keith as Canada’s International Referee from the mid 80’s to 2003.
Through Keith’s leadership and guidance Ontario developed a core of officials, many of whom also went on to work at higher levels within Pan Am or Internationally. Keith was respected by all within the sport who came to know him or work with him. Many of the officials working today owe their success to Keith’s tireless training and mentorship over the years.
This award is selected by the PSO Board of Directors through nominations sent in by sanctioned tournament hosts. The award recognizes an individual official who has demonstrated a significant level of improvement in their capabilities and who have made an extraordinary contribution to Badminton Ontario programming and the sport in general throughout the year.

Keith Hollands Award
The Keith Hollands Award is presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the sport of badminton in Ontario. Following his death in 1983, the Badminton Ontario Board of Directors instituted two different awards to honor his memory and the contributions that he made to badminton.
One was the establishment of an annual award to be given to a volunteer in Ontario who has contributed significantly to badminton in the Province within that year, the award being known as the Keith Hollands Volunteer Award. The second recognition was the establishment of the Keith Hollands Endowment, the purpose of which is to provide seed money for worthwhile badminton projects in Ontario with a recreational level bias. Projects assisted by the endowment over the last several years have included: promotional badminton posters, Badminton Enrichment clinics for grade school children, and pre-OFSAA tournaments for high school athletes. The Keith Hollands Endowment has been incorporated into the Sport Development Fund which will continue to provide funding for the development of badminton at the grassroots level.
