Active Start

Badminton Ontario’s Active Start program is called ‘FUNdamentals’ which is an after school program designed for grade 2-3 students that focuses on basic motor skills and activities.

Badminton Ontario’s goals with our Fundamentals programs is to enable kids to have fun through badminton activities, as well as other sport and non-sport activities, while learning fundamental movements and motor skills that will later translate into badminton skills. While Badminton Ontario possesses and delivers the programs necessary for fundamental movement development, athletes are encourage to continue physical activity 4+ days a week, outside of our programming.

Training framework:

  • 1-2 sessions per week
  • 30-60 minutes per session
  • 3-4 additional non badminton activity sessions per week, 30-60 minutes

You can run this program in your school for less than $5 a participant. A facilitator kit is used to deliver the program which includes 20 short racquets and 20 regular racquets, 16 tubes of plastic birds and 4” sponge balls. Contact Warren Brownlee  to find out if your District already has a kit available for new programs.
