Canada/Ontario bid for the 2018 BWF World Junior Badminton Championships

On April 12th, Badminton Canada submitted its formal application to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for consideration to host the 2018 World Junior Badminton Championships.  Last hosted in Canada in 2004 (Richmond, BC), Badminton Canada has worked with Badminton Ontario to propose the competition be held at the Pan Am Centre in Markham.  Dates for the competition are to be confirmed by the BWF, but the Championships usually occur over a two week period in late October or early November.  Held every year, the World Junior Badminton Championships is the largest international competition within the BWF, usually attracting 35-40 nations and well over 500 participants in total – it features both a team competition and an individual competition.
