Badminton Canada is pleased to announce and wish best of luck to our Canadian junior athletes competing in the Suhandinata Cup and the Eye-Level Cups at the 2016 BWF World Junior Championships being held from November 2-13 at the Bilbao Arena in Bilbao, Spain!

The Mixed Team Event draw (link) took place on October 12 in a public ceremony at BWF headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The format was developed through a system with 8 groups (A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H), subdivided in 2 groups of either 3 or 4 teams. This year, a record breaking 54 teams have registered to participate in the BWF World Junior Championships in Spain.

Following last year’s impressive 13th place finish at the 2015 World Junior Championships and a notable first place podium at this year’s XXV Junior Pan Am Team Championships in Peru, our Canadian athletes will take centre stage at the World Junior Championships in the Suhandinata Cup Mixed Team Event scheduled from November 2-6. Team Canada will also be competing in the individual Event taking place from November 8-13.

The Canadian U19 Team competing in the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Event Championships will be represented by Brian Yang (ON), Kylie Cheng (BC), Jason Ho-Shue (ON), Qingzi Ouyang (BC), Clement Chow (ON), Katie Ho-Shue (ON), Samuel Li (ON), Giselle Chan (ON), Desmond Wang (AB), Alexandra Mocanu (QC) and Jenna Wong (BC). The individual event will also be represented by Canada with the addition of Mathieu Morneau (QC) and Nicolas Nguyen (QC). This year at the World Junior Championships in Bilbao, Team Canada will be led by Mike Butler as the Head Coach alongside Efendi Wijaya as the Assistant Coach.
