JUNIOR PAN AM BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS JUST SEVEN DAYS AWAY – PAN AM CENTRE, MARKHAM

Starting on July 21st, over 300 athletes from all over North and South America will compete in the Junior Pan Am Badminton Championships at the Markham Pan Am Centre. Athletes will compete in team competition (July 21-23)  and individual competition in U11-U19 categories (July 24-28)

ONTARIO ATHLETES MAKE UP A LARGE PART OF TEAM CANADA FOR THE 2017 PAN AM JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MARKHAM

In just under three weeks athletes from 16 different Pan American countries will arrive to compete in the annual Junior Pan Am Badminton Championships. The first matches for the Team Competition will begin on July 21st at the Markham Pan Am Centre, while the Individual Competition will begin on July 24th.

The annual Badminton Ontario Awards Gala was held in the Toronto Don Valley Hotel on June 10th. The evening saw athletes, officials, coaches and volunteers celebrated for their contributions, achievements, and hard work within the 2016/2017 season.

MOSS RE-ELECTED AS BADMINTON ONTARIO PRESIDENT AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Badminton Ontario Annual General Meeting was held in Toronto on June 10/11th, with the membership supporting the election of four returning individuals to the Badminton Ontario Board of Directors.  Ian Moss returns as President of the Association for his second two-year term, as does Martha Deacon as Director of High Performance, Benedict Menachery as Director at Large and Jeff Sum as Director of Finance.

TORONTO TO HOST BWF WORLD JUNIORS

Next year’s edition of the BWF World Junior Championships will be held in Toronto, Canada, at Markham Pan Am Centre.At its recent meeting in Australia, the Badminton World Federation accepted a bid by Badminton Canada to host the two-tiered tournament in November 2018, featuring the World Junior Mixed Team Championships (for the Suhandinata Cup) followed by the individual World Junior Championships (for the Eye Level Cups).
